Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand is the region's leading authority in smart cities. As a member-based organisation we dedicate our time to helping catalyse action and investment in technology and data solutions.
Our mission is clear - we envision a world where technology and data have been harnessed to create smart, sustainable cities and communities with high-quality living and high-quality jobs.
Our work is guided by the direction set within the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are purpose-driven, global and both Australia and New Zealand have committed to advancing them. And at the SCC we firmly believe that technology and data can accelerate the outcomes expressed by the SDGs, helping our communities to thrive and prosper.
To help achieve these outcomes we do four things:
INFORM - Create knowledge resources that build capacity to act and invest.
EDUCATE - Deliver the Smart Cities Readiness Program, powered by Activator.
CONVENE - Bring our community together to engage in meaningful dialogue to advance best practice.
ADVOCATE - Help shape a policy environment that accelerates smart cities action and investment.
For more than three and a half years we have been informing, educating, conveneing and advocating for smart cities action in the region. From the development of our globally acclaimed resources, to the nations premier gathering of smart cities leaders (Smart Cities Week), we have become the peak body for government, industry and academia to partner with in helping build capacity to act.
We strongly believe in the power of many. As such, SCCANZ uses an action-based approach to engaging with partners and supporting stakeholders. Our success is not possible without the commitment of our multiple Task Force’s and other stakeholder supported initiatives.
In 2019 we launched the Local Government Smart Cities Network, what is now the region's most active network of cities, towns and regions seeking to advance smart cities action.
In 2020 we launch our new initiaitve - the Centre for Data Leadership. This initiative will provide support to organisations seeking to use data and insights to fuel prosperity, productivity and sustainability in our cities and regions.
We are building a smart cities movement. Join us.
